Randall 9th in Estonia

Kikkan Randall survived a tough quarterfinal battle but couldn't advance beyond the semifinals in a World Cup classic sprint race Saturday in Otepaa, Estonia. The Anchorage skier finished ninth overall and held onto her lead in the World Cup sprint standings -- and the red bib that World Cup leaders race in.

"I am really getting quite attached to the red bib and I want to defend it as best as possible," Randall said in an email. "I know to keep it I have to be strong in all of the remaining races. It's definitely on my mind."

Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland won the women's race and Switzerland's Dario Cologna won the men's race, with Andy Newell of the United States finishing seventh.
