Richard "Porch" Alexander III, 27, was behind the wheel of an Oldsmobile Bravada that an officer stopped Aug. 29 in East Anchorage, near Old Harbor and Muldoon roads, police said.

As the officer walked up to the car, Alexander made a U-turn and sped through an intersection, where his SUV collided with a pickup, a charging document says. Alexander ran off, but he left his wallet -- holding his ID card -- sitting on the front seat, the charges say. Two people in the pickup suffered broken pelvises and other injuries, and three people in Alexander's SUV had cuts.

According to the charges, officers found bottles of cough syrup mixed with pain pills in the SUV.

Alexander, still on the lam Wednesday, is charged with driving with a suspended license, eluding arrest, assault and failure to render aid. Anyone with information on Alexander's whereabouts is asked to call police at 786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at 561-7867.

Police on Wednesday also announced the arrest of a woman for a separate August wreck with injuries.

Officers arrested Lindsey Tipton, 28, on Tuesday for hitting a pedestrian Aug. 15 on Fifth Avenue near the Holiday gas station next to Merrill Field, police said.

Tipton was headed eastbound in a BMW when she hit a man, who had stepped into the street following a disturbance, breaking his pelvis and injuring his knee, police said. Tipton drove off, but witnesses followed, a charging document says. Officers stopped her near Camelot Street and Boniface Parkway, police said.

Tests later showed methamphetamine in Tipton's system, and her blood-alcohol level registered 0.057. She was charged with driving under the influence and failing to render aid, police said.
