Boys regular-season champion Dimond, which went 14-0-0 in league, plays last place Bartlett tonight. The Lynx won their two regular season meetings with the Golden Bears, 14-0 and 12-0.
Second-seeded Service, which faces seventh-seeded West tonight, swept the season series with a pair of 5-0 wins. And third-seeded South, which entertains sixth-seeded Eagle River, swept that season series, 2-0 and 7-0.
First-round winners in the boys tournament secure berths into the state tournament.
Meanwhile, in the girls tournament, top-seeded South-Bartlett went 5-0-0 against its first-round opponent, Service-East. South-Bartlett outscored Service-East 18-1 in the season series.
But one boys matchup and one girls matchup in the opening round offer intrigue.
In the boys, fourth-seeded East and fifth-seeded Chugiak split the season series. The Thunderbirds won the first meeting 7-0 in early November, but the Mustangs won the rematch, 3-2, a month later.
On the girls side, Dimond-West played Chugiak-Eagle River five times, winning three of the games. All of the games were low-scoring -- just 13 combined goals -- and none were decided by more than two goals.
