Alaska Ski for Women scheduled Sunday

January 30, 2012

Calling women of all ages. Sisters, mothers, daughters, grandmothers and your best girlfriends!

The Alaska Ski for Women 4-K ski race will take place this Sunday at Kincaid Park. Funds raised go toward local charities to fight domestic abuse.

Timed race waves begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a costume parade at 11:45 a.m. and an untimed Party Wave at 12:30 p.m.

Ski with your women friends while supporting solutions to domestic violence with a generous donation. Outlandish costumes encouraged.

Sign up online at www.alaskaskiforwomen.org. There will be a special Wax for Women from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at West High School, 1700 Hillcrest Drive, where you can get your skis waxed for Sunday's races. For $10 you get a glide wax for your skate skis or the tips and tails of your classic skis. (www.anchoragenordicski.com/skiforwomen/waxing.html)
