JUNEAU -- Kim Kiefer, Juneau's deputy city manager, will be promoted to city manager.
The Juneau Empire reports the City and Borough Assembly voted Monday night to name Kiefer as the replacement for Rod Swope, who plans to retire March 31.
There were 25 applicants for the job. Kiefer and Capt. Norman "Buddy" Custard of the U.S. Coast Guard were the two finalists. They were interviewed Saturday.
