Prayer card came in handy

As a Bible-believing Christian, and loyal 44-year Alaska Airlines passenger, I couldn't help but smile at the comments made by several Daily News columnists on the so-called "prayer cards".

The Book of Psalms is the Bible's hymn book, although it does contain prayers by David asking for forgiveness which comes from God alone (Psalm 51). Most Psalms are written to be sung. Christians don't need "prayer cards" with which to commune with their personal Savior.

Flying to Kotzebue one year for a hunt, I overheard the passenger behind me telling stories of mushing dogs up the summit of awesome Mount McKinley. Was I ever impressed!

Today among my prized possessions is a "prayer card" with the words "It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High." Psalm 92:1-- autographed by Joe Redington Sr.

Thanks, Alaska Airlines, for a "prayer card" that really came in handy in more ways than one.
