SB89 is scheduled for a floor vote as early as Wednesday.

It requires that charitable gifts of greater than $250, from someone other than a lobbyist, be reported within 60 days.

Sen. John Coghill, who introduced the bill at the request of the Select Committee on Legislative Ethics, says the bill mostly deals with "housekeeping" issues. Among other things, the bill extends to 60 days the reporting requirement for gifts of travel and allows for a public member alternate on the board. The cap on gifts from lobbyists relates to tickets or other gifts related to charity events. There are restrictions in law already for things like food and drink.
