Donated clothes must go to needy

I am concerned about the end results of clothing and household items donated to various agencies in Anchorage. I believe that many donors want their gently used items to go to people who need them, but I have heard that clothing is sometimes shredded into mechanic's rags or discarded in other ways.

I have recently done a major closet overhaul, and want my clothing (some still in dry cleaning bags and some with attached tags) to be given free to anyone who can use it. I know there are several local agencies who accept donations, but how can I assure that items go free to those in need?
