With the freezing rain Wednesday night and Thursday, I see the usual pile of ditch-diving and upside-down pickup trucks and SUVs.
Please, 4x4 drivers (and I own several), get a clue; you are overrepresented in crashes.
Four-wheel drive is fantastic ... to get you rolling and going ... straight into trouble ... if you let it.
In other words, while it is great for low speeds, it does not allow you to drive faster than other vehicles; the tires don't get any grippier.
Thus the reason we call them pickups: because we constantly are picking up the drivers out of the ditch.
