Air Force squeaks by UAA gymnasts

The Seawolves racked up 189.3 points, beating their previous high of 188.125 by more than a point.

The effort came in a dual meet with Air Force, which won the NCAA Division I meet with 190.87 points.

"It's always disappointing to lose, but I think we saw some good things come out of today's meet, including the continuing improvement of Morgan Cook. She has shown a great deal of maturity and confidence already as a freshman." UAA coach Paul Stoklos said in a press release from the university.

"Now that our lineup has stabilized, I feel good about our ability to keep posting higher scores as we head into the home stretch of the season."

Cook recorded personal bests on the vault (9.625) and balance beam (9.525) en route to a 37.775 all-around score.

Doucette won the floor exercise (9.625) and vault (9.825, the 12th-best vault score in UAA history) on the way to a 37.725 all-around score.

Air Force was led by a Katie Hawthorn, who took the all-around title and shared the uneven parallel bars title with teammate Linnaea Hance, who also won the balance beam.
