Kendall Auto Alaska presented eight Southcentral Alaska charities with $40,000 as part of its Kendall Cares contribution program Tuesday morning. The winning charities were selected by a vote, open to the public, to reduce 40 nominated organizations to eight finalists, each of which received $5,000. The winning charities were Midnight Sun Service Dogs, Anchorage Community YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, The Duct Tape Ball, Abused Women's Aid In Crisis (AWAIC), Armed Services YMCA of Alaska, Junior Achievement of Alaska and Friends of Pets.
"At Kendall we believe in our community and in the great work accomplished by these groups," said Mike Morris, general manager of Kendall Toyota/Scion/Lexus in Anchorage. "This is the beginning of a continued commitment by Kendall to give back (to the community)."
Votes were cast on Kendall's Facebook page and thousands of votes were cast over two weeks.
