UAA skiers Andreas Adde and Vanessa Berther each earned top-five finishes in a giant slalom Thursday at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association alpine qualifier in Bozeman, Mont.
Adde, who won an NCAA slalom title in 2010, took fourth with a two-run time of 1 minute, 42.64 seconds. For the junior from Osteras, Norway, it was his highest placing of the season and fifth top-10 finish.
Berther came in third for the women's team, earning the first podium finish of her career. The freshman from Bellevue, Wash., turned in the fastest second run of the day at 53.65 seconds for a two-run time of 1:46.33.
Anais Urbain notched her third top-ten finish of the season for the UAA women, taking eighth with a two-run time of 1:47.04. Anna Berecz finished 21st, Sandra MacDonald came in 22nd and junior Kayla Hoog-Fry was 24th.
The men's team also received a sixth-place finish from Niko Harmanen, whose combined time of 1:42.70 put him .06 seconds behind Adde. UAA sophomore Christopher Kollenborg finished 21st, and junior Cameron Brewington came in 25th.
