KENAI -- An 84-year-old man has died in a house fire just outside Soldotna.

The Peninsula Clarion reports the home was engulfed in flames and the roof had collapsed when firefighters arrived late Tuesday..

They couldn't enter the house because of the unsafe conditions.

The man's body was found once the fire was put out. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
