Raffle aids wounded combat vets

Published: March 12, 2012

An organization that offers outdoor recreation opportunities for wounded combat veterans in Alaska will receive a donation of more than $26,000 from the proceeds of the 2012 Iron Dog Raffle, sponsored in part by the Kendall auto dealerships in Anchorage and Fairbanks.

Alaska's Healing Hearts will use the money to help injured vets with "social reintegration," which means experiences designed to give disabled veterans confidence they can live active and productive lives.

"We cannot say thank you enough to the Iron Dog Team and the Kendall Toyota Family for their most generous support of Alaska's Warriors," James Hastings, secretary of Healing Hearts, said.
