Fairbanks musher calls for rescue

FAIRBANKS -- A Fairbanks musher called for rescue after he and his dog team ran into trouble.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says John Mumm called 911 on Wednesday afternoon to say he and his team ran into standing water on Goldstream Creek and were "cold and wet and needed help."

Alaska State Troopers say wildlife troopers and members of Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue used snowmachines and skis to search for the musher, finding him about an hour after he went in.

Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue Chief Jack Willard says Mumm was located and taken to a hospital. He called someone to come and pick up his dogs.
