DENALI PARK -- In what is a sure sign of spring, the park road at Denali National Park and Preserve is open to Mile 13.
Park visitors will be able to drive as far as the Mountain Vista Trailhead, which is a rest area just east of the Savage River campground.
Mount McKinley can be seen along the park road at mile 10, weather permitting. The mountain is North America's highest.
The park road will be open as of noon Friday.
Park officials say there is fun to be had this time of year in the park, well before the summer tourists arrive. Popular activities include mushing, cross-country skiing and snowmachining.
