A medical examiner has confirmed that the body pulled from Matanuska Lake on Monday is Samantha Koenig, Anchorage Police spokesman Lt. Dave Parker said Wednesday.

On Monday, police and FBI officials said they had discovered a body they believed to be Koenig in the lake, near the intersection of the Glenn and Parks highways.. FBI divers retrieved the body from the frozen lake Monday.

Koenig had been missing since she was abducted from a coffee stand where she was working on February 1.

Parker said no more details about the Koenig's death would be released Wednesday.

Authorities have said they believe an Anchorage self-employed carpenter, Israel Keyes, is connected to her disappearance and death. He is in jail on fraud charges. Authorities say charges of kidnapping and murder will be forthcoming.
