A handful of talent

"Bring Back the Sunshine" features puppets and live actors in an action-adventure filled with magic. The all-ages show, with new songs by Mari Hahn and Jon Minton, is billed as "a treat for the whole family." It will take place at the Jerry Harper Studio Theatre in UAA's Fine Arts Building at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through April 13. Tickets are available by calling 786-4849.

Cyrano's does it again

Twenty years ago, Cyrano's Theatre Company presented its first play -- Lee Blessing's "Eleemosynary." They've seldom reprised plays since, but they're making an exception by presenting the elegant, witty, poignant play about a strong-willed, eccentric grandmother and her offspring. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through April 22 at the same place where it all began, 413 D St.

Thinking big

Rutgers University art professor Margery Amdur is perhaps best known for colorful and complex smaller work, weaving together several abstract sources, but in a career of some 50 shows around the world, the Philadelphia native has also attained a reputation for larger-scale installations. One is included in her show on display through April 19 at the Kimura Gallery in the University of Alaska Anchorage Fine Arts Building.
