West 3, East 2 in girls soccer

Getting two goals from Annie Rush and another from Anna Sophia Roberts, the West girls soccer team slipped past East 3-2 Thursday in a Cook Inlet Conference match at The Dome. Rush scored the game's first goal on an assist from Roberts, sending West into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Rush put the Eagles up 2-0 when she scored on an assist from Alexandra Rojas-Ayala early in the second half.

East's Brielle Johnson scored to make it 2-1, but Rush assisted Roberts on West's third goal to put the Eagles back up by two. Grace Woern scored East's final goal on an assist from her sister Anna Woern.

Chugiak 1, South 0

A first-half goal from Jessi Beverlin was all Chugiak needed for a 1-0 win over defending state champion South in a CIC girls soccer match at The Dome on Thursday.

Beverlin's strike came midway through the first half, and Chugiak's defense withstood a powerful second-half attack from South. Chugiak goalie Bekah Zellers made some impressive saves in the match's final 10 minutes to preserve a shutout.

Eagle River 8, Bartlett 0

Eagle River's Jackie Klecka racked four goals Thursday at The Dome, propelling the Wolves to an 8-0 blowout of Bartlett in a CIC girls soccer match.

Klecka gave the Wolves a 1-0 lead early in the first half, and Eagle River extended the lead to 5-0 by halftime, getting a goal from Nikki Boggs, two from Shayna Wolery and another from Klecka.

Klecka stayed hot in the second half, hitting for two consecutive goals, before Claire Bottini deposited the final score.

Eagle River improved to 2-2-1.
