KODIAK -- A Kodiak man convicted of attempted assault has been sentenced to a year in jail.
The Kodiak Daily Mirror reports 33-year-old Roy Naughton entered a guilty plea last week. He had been charged with attempted murder but entered the plea in an arrangement made with prosecutors.
Prosecutors say Naughton on Aug. 28 pointed a handgun at James A. Smith and pulled the trigger in the parking lot of a liquor store. The gun did not fire.
He was sentenced to 36 months, with 30 months suspended, for the assault conviction. He was sentenced to another six months for violating conditions of a previous release. He also was fined $5,000, with $2,500 suspended.
