Alaska transportation officials say the first of a two-part video series details the role of aviation in the state.
The video was produced by the state Department of Transportation.
Officials say the video was filmed in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta and shows how aviation is a lifeline for 82 percent of communities in the state.
Featured are village residents and providers of various services describing the importance of aviation for them.
A second video under production will look at the challenges of building and maintaining rural airports.
Transportation spokeswoman Brenda Hewitt says the first eight-minute video can be viewed through the department website. It also has been posted on YouTube.
The videos are funded through a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.
