TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida is objecting to a settlement agreement between BP and lawyers representing more than 100,000 individuals and businesses claiming losses from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

State Attorney General Pam Bondi asked a federal judge in New Orleans on Friday to delay preliminary approval.

Bondi says that would give Florida a chance to obtain more information and submit legal arguments. Her filing says the settling parties have disclosed "alarmingly little" about the proposal.

She said in Florida it apparently would limit claims to Panhandle and west coast residents and businesses although the spill caused economic losses across the state.

Bondi also argues the settlement would eliminate interim payments and, contrary to federal law, require only final settlements.
