Man faces new sex abuse charges after earlier accusations tossed

JUNEAU -- A Juneau man faces new child sex abuse charges, a week after a judge dismissed earlier charges filed against him.

The Juneau Empire reports that an indictment filed Friday accuses the 37-year-old Joshua David Burger of four counts of child sex abuse.

Burger was initially indicted by a grand jury last April on 100 counts of sex abuse of a minor. Juneau Superior Court Judge Philip Pallenberg last week dismissed those charges, rulling the grand jury considered inadmissible evidence when it handed down a 100-count indictment. The judge, however, indicated may still be enough evidence to support an indictment if the document is restructured.

Burger has been free on $500,000 cash bail since late January in the custody of his mother.
