Juneau police said a 21-year-old man was charged with weapons misconduct after accidentally firing a 12-gauge shotgun from a downtown street.

Police at 2:10 a.m. Saturday took a call from a woman reporting a single gunshot near Franklin and Second streets about two blocks from the Capitol.

The Juneau Empire reported authorities found Caleb Smith walking and carrying three guns, including a handgun.

Police said he was under the influence of alcohol and that the shotgun went off as he tried to unload it.
