Cleanup of several thousand gallons of freeze protection fluids, seawater and crude oil continues at a BP oil field on the North Slope.

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation says the spill reported more than a week ago was at a drill site in the Prudhoe Bay oil field. It occurred during a well warmup procedure.

DEC says BP Exploration (Alaska) has eight response technicians using hand tools to remove contaminated snow from a confined area of piping. The spill has been estimated at more than 3,600 gallons.

Crews will continue to remove contaminated snow, ice and gravel from the drill pad and an area within the reserve pit.
