JUNEAU -- Alaska Marine Highway officials say ferry service between Angoon and Sitka will resume next month. KINY says the service is set to begin May 3.
Jeremy Woodrow with the state Department of Transportation says resumption of the service is possible because of the recently rebuilt ferry terminal dock in Angoon that is compatible with fast ferries.
According to Woodrow, the Fairweather will provide the service twice a week throughout summer, departing from Juneau. The ferry will depart Juneau on Thursdays to Angoon, Sitka and back to Juneau.
