KETCHIKAN -- A U.S. Coast Guard petty officer has pleaded guilty of illegally hunting from his vessel.
The Ketchikan Daily News reports that 35-year-old William M. Hill pleaded guilty to 10 counts of illegal hunting in a deal where the state dropped another 10 counts.
Fellow Coast Guard officers told Alaska Wildlife Troopers that Hill had shot at deer from a U.S. Coast Guard vessel.
Hill was fined $5,000, has to pay a $1,200 restitution, ordered to do community service and his rifle was seized, but he can get it back for $250.
His hunting license was also revoked.
