Three days worth of seal hopping, stick pulling and high kicking comes to the Dena'ina Center this weekend.
The annual Native Youth Olympics begin with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m., followed by the first competition of the weekend -- the kneel jump.
More than 500 kids under the age of 18 will vie for crowns in traditional Native sports that test strength, agility and skills. Also on tap are traditional Native dances, a blanket toss demonstration and a pilot bread recipe contest.
The events runs through Sunday. Admission is free.
