Disappointed at closing of Frisbee golf course

Published: April 28, 2012

It is disappointing that the Frisbee golf course was shut down without public discourse and community consideration. Even though I am not a regular "frolfer," I know how difficult it was to get on the course for its popularity. I delighted in seeing people of all ages frequenting the course and having a lot of fun out there.

Misconduct? Litter? Yes, but have you been to the dog parks? Softball fields? Soccer fields? Picnic areas? It is unfair to single out and penalize one segment of our population for abuses that unfortunately happen with all the general public.

I do understand the hazard factor. How about some signs that say "Watch for flying objects and slow down" or "Caution -- Multi-Use Trail" ... Frisbees aren't the only things flying down the paths; there are speeding and inconsiderate bikers, joggers, dogs, balls of all sorts. Our parks are shared public areas and we should be happy that people engage in the outdoors. Frolf on but please pick up your litter!
