West 1, East 0 in boys soccer

West's Joshua Contreras broke a scoreless tie with a crossing shot in the 72nd minute Saturday, giving the Eagles a 1-0 win over East in a Cook Inlet Conference boys soccer match at Dimond High. Muharem Selimi, who was recently moved up from West's junior varsity squad, assisted Contreras on the match-winning goal.

South 5, Chugiak 1

Zak Naylor's hat trick propelled the South boys soccer team to a 5-1 win over Chugiak on Saturday in a CIC match at Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium.

The Wolverines, who also got goals from Max Mills and Nathan Chartier, cruised to a 4-0 halftime lead and extended the lead to 5-0 before Chugiak scored a late goal.

Dimond 5, Service 0

The Dimond boys soccer team was dominant on its home pitch Saturday, getting two goals from Jack Sedor and blowing past Service 5-0 in a CIC match.

Michael Sedor opened scoring in the eighth minute, and Austin Portch extended Dimond's lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute. Travis Merritt also added a goal, and Arturo Oberto earned the shutout in goal.

Homer 1, Palmer 0

Konstantin Reutov's goal near the end of the first half was enough to give Homer a 1-0 win over host Palmer in a boys soccer match Saturday.

Kyle Wisner assisted Reutov on the match-winner, and goalie Grant Arsenau recorded the shutout. Homer improved to 2-0-2, and Palmer dropped to 1-3-1.
