Aces series situation

Published: April 28, 2012

If history is a decent guide -- if nothing else, it's a talking point -- the home-standing Alaska Aces are sitting in favorable position entering Sunday night's Game 3 against the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL's Western Conference finals.

The best-of-7 series is tied 1-1. Ryan Cruthers bagged both goals and Gerald Coleman delivered 25 saves in Alaska's 2-1 win in Game 1 Thursday in Las Vegas. The Wranglers answered Friday in Vegas with a 3-0 win backed by Joe Fallon's 23 saves, Scott Campbell's two goals, and one goal and two helpers from former UAA winger Josh Lunden.

In the Aces' nine ECHL seasons, they've gone 4-2 in best-of-7 series that were tied 1-1 entering Game 3 -- that includes beating Stockton in five games earlier this month in the Western Conference semifinals.

Here's how the Aces, who are 14-4 all-time in best-of-7 ECHL series, have done in those series when sweeping the first two games, splitting them, or being swept:
