A look at deals involving US pipeline companies

NEW YORK (AP) - Energy Transfer Partners is buying Sunoco in a $5.3 billion deal that creates one of the more diverse pipeline companies in the country.

Here are some recent deals involving U.S. pipeline companies:

-May 2010: Energy Transfer Equity buys Regency Energy Partners for $300 million

-May 2011: Energy Transfer buys Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy for $1.93 billion

-Oct. 2011: Kinder Morgan announces plans to buy El Paso Corp. in a $20.7 billion deal

-Dec. 2011: Energy Transfer Equity L.P. buys Southern Union for $5.7 billion

-April 2012: Plains All American Pipeline L.P. buys BP's Canadian natural gas liquids business for $1.67 billion

-April 2012: Williams Partners L.P. buys natural gas-gathering company Caiman Eastern Midstream LLC for $2.4 billion.
