Anchorage Golf Course will open the front nine on temporary greens Saturday, the first course in town to open.
The back nine should open by the middle of next week and golfers should be on real greens in about two weeks, said Rich Sayers, director of the municipal course on O'Malley Road.
"I couldn't believe how much snow melted just last night and the night before," Sayers said Friday. "It looks better than it did last year."
The driving range and first nine holes will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekdays. Greens fees for play on temporary greens is $15 for nine holes and $24 for 18.
