Rich and famous

In their heyday, the husband-wife acting team of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontaine were Broadway royalty. Their country retreat, Ten Chimneys, was where they worked on lines and entertained their fabulous show-biz buddies. To this day, theater lovers make the pilgrimage to the estate in Wisconsin. Right now, Cyrano's is bringing the estate to 413 D St., with a production of "Ten Chimneys" by Jeffrey Hatcher, described as "a valentine to great actors and great theater." Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday through May 27. Tickets are $18.50 at centertix.net.

Tenor on loan

Fresh from last week's performance in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Anchorage Youth Symphony, tenor John Nuzzo will join pianist Timothy Smith (with a guest appearance by the Alaska Children's Choir) in a concert featuring art songs, opera excerpts and more. The performance takes place at 4 p.m. Sunday in the UAA Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. General admission is $18, available at centertix.net. Donations will be accepted for the Japan Relief Fund, a favorite cause for the veteran of the Salzburg Festival and Metropolitan Opera whose parents live in Japan and who happened to be there when the great tsunami and earthquake struck last year.
