KENAI -- The Homer Electric Association says power was knocked out for nearly eight hours to about 80 homes near Kenai when a dump truck snagged an electric line.

Association spokesman Joe Gallagher tells the Peninsula Clarion that the mishap knocked down two power poles along Kalifornsky Beach Road about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Gallagher says power was restored about 10:30 p.m.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says traffic was diverted on the road that links Soldotna and Kenai.
