Six professional chefs are set to compete Monday in a seafood preparation contest in Anchorage.
The Great Alaska Seafood Cook-Off will take place Monday in the train depot at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Organizers say the winner will represent Alaska at the Great American Cook-Off in New Orleans in August.
The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute is hosting the event, which will not be open to the public. Organizers say the competitors were chosen from 29 applications submitted by chefs.
Also at the event, the winner of an amateur recipe contest will be announced. Organizers say 32 recipes were submitted.
The institute is a nonprofit partnership between the state and the seafood industry.
