East sweeps West in softball

East continued an impressive start to its softball season, remaining undefeated with two Cook Inlet Conference wins over West on Saturday at Wendler Middle School.

East cruised 6-2 in the first win and 8-3 in the second, with pitcher Sydney Smith going a complete seven innings in each. Smith struck out five in the early win and helped her cause with a double in the second win.

Terra Sang-Patrone was East's top hitter in the second game, going 2 for 3 with a triple and three runs, helping the T-birds improve to 14-0.

Nikki Olsen led West with a combined 3 for 6 effort.

South 11, Dimond 6

A Rachel Eytalis double highlighted a seven-run, second-inning rally for South on Saturday that carried the Wolverines to an 11-6 CIC softball win over Dimond at Albrecht Fields.

South's Nikki Donaldson scored three times in a 1-for-4 effort.

Whitney Jackson was 3 for 3 with a run to lead Dimond.

Chugiak sweeps

Chugiak swept Service in a CIC softball doubleheader Saturday at Albrecht Fields, winning 7-0 in the first game and 13-4 in the second.

Jess Tramp and Katie Bakkaer combined pitching duties in the first game, scattering eight hits. Mollie Matthis went 2 for 4.
