Bartlett 5, East 3 in baseball

After a four-run outburst in the second inning, Bartlett used an error-free defensive performance to hold on for its first win of the Cook Inlet Conference baseball season Saturday, beating East 5-3 at Mulcahy Stadium. Andrew Dickey pitched a complete seven innings for the Golden Bears, striking out five. Bobby Adams powered the offense, going 2 for 2 and driving in a run.

Luke and Matt Schnellbach led East, with Luke hitting a triple and scoring in the second inning and Matt knocking an RBI-double and scoring in the sixth.

Dimond 6, West 4

West loaded the bases to chase starting pitcher Sagan Osborne with no outs in the final inning Saturday, but Kyle Kornegay came to the rescue in relief to preserve Dimond's 6-4 victory at Mulcahy Stadium.

Kornegay struck out two batters and got the third on a popup to earn the save while Osborne took the victory. Kornegay led the Lynx at the plate, scoring twice and driving in two runs.

Service 9, South 3

Service hit for the cycle in a big third inning and rolled past South 9-3 in a CIC baseball game at Mulcahy Stadium on Saturday.

A three-run homer from Johnny Meszaros highlighted the Cougars' five-run rally. With two outs in the bottom of the third, trailing South 1-0, Service batters proceeded to draw a walk, single, double, hit a home run, triple and double to push ahead 5-1.

Zach Ferntheil pitched a complete game for Service, striking out four and walking none.

Hitting from the nine hole, South's Scott Hodgson went 2 for 3 with a run. South leadoff hitter Brian Baker was 2 for 3 with an RBI-triple.

Service improved to 5-0, and South fell to 4-1.
