Lingering snow affects visitor services at Exit Glacier

Published: May 23, 2012

National Park Service officials say more snow than usual is lingering in the Exit Glacier area northwest of Seward.

Officials, however, say the remaining stretch of the road to the glacier at Kenai Fjords National Park will open at 8 a.m. Friday.

Officials say the water to the restrooms might not be available during the Memorial Day weekend because of continued freezing night temperatures.

The Exit Glacier nature center is set to open all day starting Saturday, but officials say it will be temporarily closed May 30 through June 5 for installation of new exhibits.
