SITKA -- Sitka officials are considering an increase in fees for customers using higher-than-average levels of electricity.
The Daily Sitka Sentinel says the Assembly reviewed a plan this week that calls for increasing electrical rates over the next five years.
Utility director Chris Brewton says one of the goals is to encourage conservation of the city's limited hydro resource.
Brewton says the city wants to prevent running diesel generators at all possible cost if that can be done.
