KENAI -- Police in Kenai say an 18-year-old man is recovering from a shotgun wound to his leg.

The Peninsula Clarion reported Ian West was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment late Thursday night.

Police say West got into an altercation with a 17-year-old near Beaver Creek Park. The younger teen fled after the shooting and was found unarmed east of the Kenai Golf Course.

He was charged with felony assault and taken to the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility. His name was not released.

A 20-gauge shotgun was recovered near the shooting scene.
