TALKEETNA -- A 58-year-old Talkeetna pilot safety landed his airplane in a swamp when the engine failed.

Alaska State Troopers say William Fitzgerald set the 1951 Piper Super Cub down Sunday near a cabin northeast of Talkeetna.

Fitzgerald was not injured.

Troopers took a call on the downed airplane at 5:37 p.m. A National Park Service helicopter picked up Fitzgerald. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
