FAIRBANKS -- A divide seems to be widening in the Alaska Republican Party.
Chairman Randy Ruedrich will be replaced in February by Ron Paul supporter Russ Millette.
Paul supporters want to reconvene the rowdy GOP state convention from April on June 9 in Anchorage. Ruedrich told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner that Paul's supporters are trying to award the state's 24 delegates to Paul.
Paul's supporters deny that. Evan Cutler says Ruedrich is trying to keep people away so they can't rewrite rules to oust him immediately instead of waiting until February, which the bylaws require.
Ruedrich is encouraging Alaska Republicans to "go fishing" on June 9 so the meeting won't have a quorum.
Millette is calling for Republicans to attend the convention.
