BETHEL -- An Alaska Native corporation has canceled its shareholders meeting.
KYUK reports shareholders of Calista Corp. were to have met Saturday in Goodnews Bay.
Chairman Art Heckman says in a release that there was an error in the voting process at the board's April meeting concerning an at-large candidate to be included on the slate of nominees.
All directors were not allowed to vote. Since the outcome could have been different, Heckman says, the board's slate was incorrectly composed, making the board's proxy statement incorrect.
It was too late to correct the error in printed materials and the meeting will be postponed.
A date has not been set.
Calista is an Anchorage-based corporation for the Yukon Kuskokwim area of Southwest Alaska. It has 12,600 shareholders.
