Judge Dana Fabe has been unanimously elected by other members of the Alaska Supreme Court to be the chief justice. The Alaska Court System says in a press release that Fabe was elected to a three-year term, beginning July 1.
She succeeds Justice Walter Carpeneti in the position.
Fabe was the first woman ever selected to the state's high court and was appointed in 1996. She has served two previous terms as chief justice.
