Sometimes all you need is a good, cheap red wine. The 2011 Wolftrap Syrah Mourvedre Viognier is just that, a high quality-price ratio keeper. Dark aromatics belie the cherry fruit and mild tannin that aim to deliver like a big boy. There's no wood, however, but the finish is clean and lengthy. Imported from South Africa, this is actually a classic Old World blend and is most certainly meant to be enjoyed with grilled meats. Cheers! Costs about $12.
