Dunbar earns All-America at track and field championships

Published: June 8, 2012

Kodiak's Trevor Dunbar raced to All-America recognition Friday at the NCAA track and field championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dunbar, a sophomore who transferred to the University of Oregon midway through the school year, claimed sixth place in the 5,000 meters.

Southern Utah's Cameron Levins won the race in 13 minutes, 40.0 seconds. Dunbar was about three seconds back in 13:44.16.

A high school star for Kodiak in track and cross country, Dunbar started his college career at the University of Portland, where he was a two-time All-American in cross country. Portland has a track team but no track, so at the conclusion of his second cross-country season, Dunbar transferred to Oregon, where he can pursue both sports at an elite level.
