Taquoka plays with a log in a pond in her enclosure at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Taquoka, a 2-year-old male brown bear at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage, began a trip to his new home in Sweden on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. The bear has been in AWCC's care since November 2010. Ethan Tyler of AWCC says the bear's mother was shot in defense of life and property in Kodiak. Taquoka, named for the Alutiiq word for bear, will head to Orsa Bear Park in Orsa, Sweden. On Wednesday, AWWC staff sedated the bear before lifting him into a steel crate. From there, he went to the Anchorage airport where he'll be transported to Sweden, by way of New Jersey, via FedEx. MARC LESTER / ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS Buy Photo
