Published: June 21, 2012

FAIRBANKS -- A Fairbanks man accused of trying to light a man on fire and beating him with lumber and a metal broom last summer has received three years in prison.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says 38-year-old Thomas David Wholecheese Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree felony assault and one count of fourth-degree misdemeanor assault.

Alaska State Troopers say they found a man sitting in the living room bleeding, dirty and covered in motor oil and bleach. They say the man told them Wholecheese accused him of messing around with his girlfriend, beat him up, covered him in bleach and motor oil and tried to light him on fire with a cigarette.
