Published: June 21, 2012

Yodene John, left, is assisted by Adele Ridley of Cook Inlet Tribal Council, right, as she picks out children's clothing at the CITC transportation center Thursday morning June 21, 2012 in east Anchorage. CITC is the Alaska-based partner for the national Kids In Distressed Situations (KIDS) program, which distributes high-quality items donated by national retailers to communities and families in need worldwide. About 20% of the items are distributed in Anchorage, and the rest are shipped to rural Alaska. CITC partners with Alaska Airlines, Carlile Transportation Systems, Northern Air Cargo, the Rasmuson Foundation, Spernak Air and Totem Ocean Trailer Express to deliver items statewide. "Everybody in the company at one point or another gets involved with KIDS," said chief operating officer Kristin English. "It's fun for the staff. It's just a happy project."
